The Great American Balloon Car Race is a high-interest hands-on project where students build and race a light-weight balloon powered vehicle. An extremely open-ended activity, students are given the materials they need along with some very basic instructions, then are set free to discover for themselves how to develop and construct a model that does what its supposed to do. Developed by Bruce Sherbeck. Includes materials for 40 cars and instructions. Grades 4–8.
