Product InformationIn this inquiry-based lab activity, developed by David Emery, students tour an area to be studied (i.e., the schoolyard, playground, park, or woods), and come up with their own forest ecology questions to study. They then go outside, observe, study a habitat, and collect data in order to answer their questions. Activities include measuring canopy density, tree height, soil temperature, air conditions and soil pH; and studying animal life, plant growth and types of trees. Includes instructions. Grades 8–12.
