Working individually, students choose a combination of the attributes of three of the five main classes of vertebrates and use the materials in this kit to design and construct their own vertebrates. Each student must justify the characteristics chosen for his/her new vertebrate and describe its role in the ecosystem, including adaptations, type of consumer, predator/prey relationships and habitat. Developed by Millie Blandford. Includes materials for 30 students and instructions. Grades 4–6.
